Ingredients:
- 200g (7 oz) dark chocolate (70% cocoa or your preference)
- 100g (3.5 oz) whole hazelnuts (toasted and roughly chopped)
- 1 tbsp coconut oil (optional, for a smoother texture)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- A pinch of sea salt (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions:
- Toast the Hazelnuts (if not already toasted):
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Spread the hazelnuts on a baking tray and toast them for about 8-10 minutes until golden and fragrant.
- Let them cool slightly, then rub them in a kitchen towel to remove the skins (optional). Roughly chop them.
- Melt the Chocolate:
- Break the chocolate into small pieces and place it in a heatproof bowl.
- Melt it using a double boiler (placing the bowl over a pan of simmering water) or in short bursts in the microwave, stirring every 20 seconds to avoid burning.
- If using, stir in the coconut oil and vanilla extract for extra smoothness.
- Combine:
- Stir the chopped hazelnuts into the melted chocolate, mixing well.
- Shape the Bar:
- Pour the mixture into a lined baking dish or chocolate mold.
- Smooth it out and tap the mold gently to remove air bubbles.
- Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top if desired.
- Set and Serve:
- Place the dish in the fridge for at least 1 hour, or until fully set.
- Once hardened, break or cut into bars.
